Tools for Searching Your Brand
As mentioned elsewhere, your internet presence can be found on various types of websites, channels and platforms. Search engines don’t always find conversation on forums, blogs, wikis, podcasts, minisites, microblogs, social networks, online reviews, rating system sites, and other online community or other collaborative media. Luckily, there are many ways to search these sites, too.
Here are a few:
Blogs
- Technorati
- Google Blog search
- Blogdigger
- BlogPulse
- Twingly
- BackType (comments)
Forums, Message Boards & Bulletin Boards
Wikis
Social Media
News Search
Web Page Changes
Other
- Trendrr
- Keotag – (tags & bookmarks)
- Gogloom (chat rooms)
- Blinkx (video)
- YouTube (video)
- Podscope (audio)
- Picsearch (images)
- TinEye (image duplication search)
- Username Check
- Google Trends
- Yahoo Pipes
These listed above are among the most common and useful search tools. There are plenty of others, and new ones are being created all the time.
If you are finding your brand mentioned in several of these places, one last tool you should consider is an RSS reader. An RSS reader will help bring most of your searches to one single place, so you can easily find your brand across all these search tools. Take a look at Google Reader or Bloglines, and if you have more than 200 feeds, check out Fastladder.
Next, we’ll figure out how to interpret what we’ve found, and how, when, and if we should respond.
